NBEO Info Session

Good morning 2012.
We have a NBEO information session this Wednesday the 8th of December with Dr. Brookman and Dr. Berman. It will start at 10:50am and hopefully end by 11:25am, so bring your lunch! (But don't bring it into the class....Dr. Brookman sent me an email reminding me to remind you of that specific detail.....).
Good luck on Strab & Low Vision!

Last post of the quarter?

Hi guys!

One more left...just keep swimming....but in the mean time (while you are looking for something non-OHP related to amuse you), I have some reminders & info about what's happening next week.

First off, we have a couple of class events happening this week:

Wednesday, Nov. 10th @ 11am in the student lounge is our "Multi-baby Baby shower" to celebrate the arrival of 2 little men & one pretty little lady! There will be sweets (cake?) and ice cream for your consumption & enjoyment, so please join us on Wednesday.

The Career Advancement Program (sponsored by the AOA & organized by Dr. Sanders) is happening next Sunday, Nov. 14th. I haven't heard an official start time, but the rumor is 10am till 3pm. A lot of you have already signed up (thanks!) but if you're interested in attending and haven't signed up, please indicate so on the google document so they can have an idea of how much food to have on hand. Wednesday is the deadline for signing up:) It should be a pretty good event.

Next item: We have a multifocal contact lens workshop coming up next month on December 10th, and it will follow a similar format to the toric workshop we had in the summer. There will be a sign up sheet heading around next week, so start thinking about a group of people that you would like to work with. Also, we need eyeballs for this workshop...SO. If you happen to know anyone who might be interested in wearing or already in MF lenses, email myself or Lindsay. As with the toric workshop, there are a few perks to sitting as a patient (food, some cash and students poking their eyes?). As we get closer to the actual date there will be more info coming out in regards to this event, so keep your eyes peeled:)

Teacher of the quarter!!!!!
Thank you guys for taking the time to vote for teacher of the quarter etc. We have a tie for teacher of the quarter between Dr. Sawamura & Dr. Cotter, so if you see either of them, be sure to congratulate them! And while you're congratulating Sawamura on that, you might as well congratulate him for being voted Clinic Staff Doctor of the Quarter!

But wait, there's more.....
Speaking of Dr. Cotter. Just when you though Strab was off our backs....We have Strab Management next quarter but because of Academy & Thanksgiving we have to do some lecture rearrangement....FUN! So here's the "make up" lecture schedule for the first few weeks of strab management;
Wednesday, Nov. 10th Strab Management @ 8am-8:50 (in addition to normal strab lectures that day)
Tuesday, Nov. 16th Strab Mgmnt @ 8am-8:50 (sorry about this one, I know we don't have lecture till 11am.....)
Wednesday, Dec 1st Strab Mgmnt @ 8am-8:50

So here's the perks to that: we don't have regular Strab lecture on the 17&18th of November (due to Academy)! YEah?

FYI: Week 9 & 10

Hi guys,

A couple of classmates have inquired about moving one of our week 9 tests to 10th week....I just wanted to let you know I've contacted Dr. Comer to see if this is even a possibility. Once I hear from him we can put things to a vote if that's the direction we're on! Thanks for being so on the ball!

Just keep swimming:)

Ocular Disease MT 1 Re-keyed

Here's the new scores; re-keyed #4 & 11

One more thing....

FYI: Dr. S is going to be making an appearance right after lecture to discus somethings for the anterior & posterior segment sections on 12 stations...His estimate was that it would cut into about 20 minutes of our lunch, that being said you might want to brown bag it on Thursday:)
toodles!

Yeah for the long weekend

The weekend is so close...and I am currently sitting in Sea-Tac waiting to board my plane to Canada...so close...
Anyhow. So here's what's happening now...

We are set to make our summer and fall outreach picks for Sept 14th @ 7:30pm in A103. The entire process can take 1.5-2hrs but you are free to leave once you've made your picks. Speaking of picks, thank you to everyone for being patient about the site information...I know you're anxious but I know Dr. Schornack is working on it.
The second date for picks (winter and spring) is scheduled on Sept. 28th @ 7:30pm in A103.

If you missed my announcement today in class, I just wanted to let everyone know about the RGP/FP night that Dr. Edrington & Dr. Lam have organized for us. The first session is coming up on Tuesday Sept. 7th starting at 6pm. The second is Sept. 9th @ 7pm. We will be up in Dr. Brookman's preclinic lab both nights. Here's the link to the google document if you'd like to sign up for it:

Tentative pick dates...

Okay, so nothing is currently set in stone for our rotation pick dates BUT it is looking very positive for the evenings of September 14th and 28th. So, plan on being available between 7:30 and 9 on those nights. I'll let you know for sure once everything is official.

Sitting, waiting, wishing....

Hola!
So here's a little FYI in case you were wondering/had the urge to inquire...At this point no dates have been set for rotation picks. That being said, expect the dates to be later rather than early (like mid-September for the first...). I know everyone wants to get this information ASAP, and it's coming, just a little more slowly than anticipated! Thanks for your patience:)

have you ever looked up in the halls lately?

Anyhow, if you have been in any of the buildings on campus you may have noticed some strange/ foreign looking creature attached to the ceiling...Well that's our WiFi people! WOOHOO. So there's been no official mention of it's arrival , but the word on the street is SCCOW is the wireless internet and to join it you need the beginning portion of your scco email (student.2012) and the password you use to log into sccosoft.... and voila! Now before you get too excited, just giving the heads up that the system has been experiencing some technical difficulties, so don't be too surprised that when 300 students jump on it there's drama...Forewarned:)

Monday, August 23, 2010

and the results are in...

So based on the class votes, we are NOT moving the second strab. midterm. It will be scheduled for the original date of September 30th. Thanks to everyone who voted! See you all tomorrow morning at 8am:P

And we're back!!!!!!

SO with out any further hesitation, I present to you the dreaded Fall Quarter....Even though technically we are just starting, I think it's safe to say everyone has been dreading this quarter or has been told some horror story either associated with strab lab or 12 stations. Oh the fun we will have:)

That being said, as is tradition here at SCCO, there are a couple of extra lectures and meetings thrown into our schedule...So in an attempt to keep you organized here's what's on the docket for the next few days!

Tuesday Aug. 17th 8am-8:50am Strab Lecture

11:45am Fall Clinic Orientation w/ Dr. Comer

And one foot in the door....

Welcome everyone to the new 2012 lifeline...That's right; sadly after a bit of effort and much communicating with in-the-know computer people, it has come to my attention that the previous website which we all know and have come to love (really?) will just not work under new ownership. That being said, I decided to follow the lead of the lovely June Cheng (former 2011 president) and thus create a blog thing. Which makes myself a blog thinger. Or I suppose a blogger. Interesting. Uncharted territory here. Just warning you that this could be cheap entertainment for you...Anyhow, the goal of this is to create a place that can house all our school related items (test scores, schedules...); Basically a place to figure out what the heck is happening and where you are supposed to be (this is assuming that I know this as well)....So that being said, enjoy!
